Three Autumn Paddle Spots!
Where to paddle board this fall in New Hampshire.
Just because the 2024 summer season has come to an end does not mean your paddle board season has to! There are many places to paddle to take advantage of seeing the autumn leaves while on the water. Here in New Hampshire we are extremely lucky to be able to paddleboard on salt water for the summer and move inland to freshwater as the temperatures begin to drop. If you've been following our recent blogs you'll notice we have been keeping our spots close to the seacoast, now its time to explore the lakes of New Hampshire!
Echo Lake, Franconia Notch State Park
Fees: 5 and under FREE, ages 6-11 $2, 12 and over $4, 65 and over FREE
Where to find it:
Echo Lake is one of New Hampshire’s most famous lakes! It is located in Franconia Notch State Park, in Grafton County, NH. At an elevation of 1,931 ft, Echo Lake offers view of Cannon Mountain and Mt. Lafayette. Franconia is a popular leaf-peeping destination and can get very busy during the fall, so we recommend planning a mid-week visit or arriving at the parking lot very early on weekends!
Why we love it:
While Echo Lake isn’t the biggest lake for a paddle, the surrounding natural beauty makes more than up for it. Taking your time paddling the shoreline will not disappoint, and you may even spot a black bear! Echo Lake is great for swimming, paddling, fishing and even paddle boating! So plan a full-day at this scenic location or spend some time exploring the greater wonders in the surrounding Franconia Notch.
Tips for paddling:

Considering how far it is from the more populated areas of the state, it is often not busy especially around this time of year. Having a paddle spot all to yourself creates such a serene scene and the quietness just ups your chance of seeing the local wildlife!
